Canon PowerShot A1100 IS

March 10th, 2009

The pink A1100 IS pink digital camera is packed with features and looks great. The amazing 12 megapixel resolution means that every shot is crisper than crisp, and can be printed at any size – even up to poster size. Also equipped with a great 4x optical zoom, the A1100 IS is perfect for taking close-ups, even from further away.

Utilising the built in intelligent Scene Detection Technology the Canon A1100 determines all the right settings for every shot, from brightness and contrast, to distance and overall hue.  The correct scene mode is then automatically chosen to ensure optimal shots.

Additional features such as face and motion detection and superb video mode make this one of the best pink digital cameras on the market right now, and at a price that is great value for money.

Samsung last week announced that their new PL10 pink digital camera will be available from April with a price of £179.

The 9 megapixel Samsung PL10 (also known as the CL5 outside of europe) will feature a 2.7″ LCD digital viewfinder and will be available in silver, royal black, arty red, purple and of course pink.

If just taking pictures isn’t enough the PL10 also has a built-in multiplyer player allowing you to take your music and movies with you and access them at the touch of  button. This seems like an excellent use of technology that is already in most digital cameras – allowing the playback of recorded movies, so maybe this is in reality more of a marketing excercise – but is sure to be an effective one.

Casio has this week announced an April launch for its Exilim EX-Z29 pink digital camera.  Building on the success of the previous Exilim range, the entry-level Exilim EX-Z29 features a 3x optical zoom and high resolution 10.1 mega-pixel sensor.

Style comes in compact packages

This stylish, slim and compact designed Exilim EX-Z29 is pocket-friendly both in terms of price and size, with ultimate ‘take it everywhere’ portability in mind, measuring a mere 3.64” wide x 2.16” high x .91” thin.

As is common with with other cameras of this size, no optical viewfinder is provided, Casio instead preferring to offer the a 2.7″ LCD which adds to the usability of the camera as a whole, with the menus being clearer to read.

Versatile & Simple

The Exilim Z29 is extremely versatile with 23 Best Shot Modes for every occasion as well as a Motion JPEG movie mode with a resolution of 840×480, complete with sound. For YouTubers, the EX-Z29 brings with it a special capture mode, simplifying the process of making videos and getting them online. The camera also features face recognition technology to ensure that portraits come out nice and crisp. Also included is Anti-Shake DSP, which reduces photo blur from shaky hands or moving subjects, even in bad light conditions.

Keeping with the tradition of focusing on ease-of-use, set by the previous models in the Exilim Zoom series, the  easy to navigate menu system can even be further simplified by switching on ‘easy mode’,  making the Exilim EX-Z29 ideal for the first time digital camera owner, and for anyone who really just wants to turn it on and start taking great photos. Easy mode hides all the complex features, reducing the menu options to just the essentials. Menus are then reduced to show just the image size, flash mode and self-timer mode.

Availability

The Exilim EX-Z29 is expected to hit the streets in April 2009, with a street price of about £129 and comes in a range of colors – black, light blue, silver as well as pink and purple.

Verdict

Ideal for anyone who wants a simple to use, easy to carry digital compact that takes great pictures.

Pink Olympus Mju 5000

March 7th, 2009

The distinctively eye-catching Mju 5000 pink digital camera goes quite a bit further in terms of performance, and offers some nice features not found on most digital cameras available in pink.

The pink Mju 5000 (Mju is pronounced to rhyme with ‘new’) combines a high speed sequential shooting mode, capable of shooting up to 8 pics per second (at 3 mega-pixel) and has great technology for reducing the effects of camera shake. Really super for shooting moving targets.

If that’s not enough to whet your appetite, the pink Mju 5000 has 12 mega-pixel resolution and a stunning 5x optical zoom, allowing really great close-ups.

With all this and still more in the way of Intelligent Auto Mode to ensure the right settings are used for every shot and automatic face detection, this really is a top buy. We cannot recommend this little beauty enough.

Pink Canon IXUS 95 IS

March 7th, 2009

Continuing in the tradition of Canon Ixus cameras leading the way in style, the IXUS 95 IS pink digital camera also has Smart Auto Mode, utilising Scene Detection which identifies the best settings required.

With its compact design, the pink IXUS 95 easily fits into your pocket or purse, so you really can take it everywhere with you.

The 10 mega-pixel resolution means that prints can be enlarged easily up to A3 size. The only possible negative we can think of is the optical zoom – only 3x, but this is maybe only a small price to pay for it being to small.
